Your NDIS experience

What has been your NDIS experience? Share your story and support the advocacy for a transparent and equitable system for people living with cystic fibrosis.

The aim of the NDIS is to support people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. It does this by identifying what disability supports someone needs in order to help achieve their goals in life. For many people living with cystic fibrosis, they have been unsuccessful with their application for NDIS supports or if they have been successful, the funding and supports provided have not met needs.

Ben Smith, Head of Business Development with Trusted Care, has been working with people on a individual basis to help them navigate the NDIS pathway and while this is a tremendous resource, we need streamlined pathways and less red tape when it comes to NDIS participation.

A new system for NDIS participants to challenge access and “unfair” funding cuts will be fast-tracked as the Albanese government seeks to address inequities in the system. Trusted Care has been invited to add the cystic fibrosis community voice to this call for change.

To support this call for change, share your personal story so as to inform MP Bill Shorten about the NDIS barriers our community are increasingly required to navigate.

When providing your feedback, if you have been unsuccessful with your NDIS application, please provide any information or feedback provided, outlining why your application was unsuccessful. If you have given up when trying to lodge an application due to difficulties navigating the system, or for any other reason, please provide any information related to your decision to not proceed with your application.

If you need any additional information, in the first instance contact Vicki Elson-Green, Head of Membership and Services, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland services@cfqld.org.au.
