Gift in Wills

Wording for gifts in Wills

If you are considering leaving a gift to the charity in your Will, please let Cystic Fibrosis Queensland know so we can advise you of programs or services that may be of interest to you. Please also discuss your gift with your family, so that they are aware of your final wishes and understand why making this gift is so important to you.

You can choose to either have your donation be made for general purposes, and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland will allocate funds to the areas where we need it most, or you can request the funds be used for a specific purpose.

Please be aware that if you stipulate your donation to be only allocated for a certain purpose, and we are unable to fulfil your wishes, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland may face legal action or may be unable to accept your gift. If you would like to know more about wishes that may or may not fall into the scope of this charity’s work, please feel free to contact us 07 3359 8000 or fundraising@cfqld.org.au.

Would your family know what you want at a time when you are no longer able to tell them? Making your wishes known by creating or updating your Will is important to ensure you have the necessary plans in place for your future. Whether you have a lot to leave behind or very little, everybody over the age of 18 needs to make sure they have a valid, up-to-date Will to ensure that their wishes are enacted when they are no longer here.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to tell you that I’ve made a gift in my Will?

A: We respect your privacy and understand that making a charitable gift in your Will is a private and personal decision. However, if you do choose to let us know, we’d love to hear from you and thank you personally.

Q: I already have a Will – do I have to write a new one to make a gift to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland?

A: You don’t have to rewrite your entire Will if you want to include a gift to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland. Speak to your solicitor about adding a codicil – a short legal amendment – to your existing Will.

Q: Do I have enough money to leave a bequest to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland?

A: It is a myth that only the rich can make charitable bequests in their Will. Every little bit helps, and big or small, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland greatly appreciates all donations made to support our cause.

Q: I want to look after my family, but still want to donate to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland in my Will. What do I do?

A: Cystic Fibrosis Queensland understands that family comes first, and we of course want you to make sure your loved ones are taken care of in the event of your passing. If you do wish to include a donation to us in your Will, you can opt to make a residual donation, which is drawn from your remaining estate only after all costs and legacies have been made.
