Thank you to all our fundraisers, donors, grantors, and volunteers who remained committed to supporting our cause through the current pandemic.

As the social distancing rules start to relax, many of our most vulnerable members will remain at home, maintaining their infection control. We have had 338 requests for service this year as opposed to 138 for the same period last year – that’s a 144% increase!

Living with a life shortening chronic illness is financially, physically, and emotionally challenging for all involved. As the peak community not for profit charity supporting the increasing number of people living with cystic fibrosis who rely on Queensland Health clinicians for care, we remain committed to improving the health and wellness of our members.

The pandemic has meant that our community charity has been unable to hold fundraising events. The team at Cystic Fibrosis Queensland rose to this challenge and since March this year, have delivered the following support and services directly to our most in need members:

  • 102 nebulisers to aid the absorption of medication
  • 79 spirometers to measure lung capacity
  • 40 vivosmart watches for heart rate monitoring
  • 30 trampolines to assist with home exercise and physiotherapy for children
  • 350 subsidies for medical, home fitness and hospital parking
  • 81 boredom buster bags to children in hospital

And 71 little day out psychosocial subsides in place to support our members who can enjoy the social distancing relaxation rules.

For Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, the pandemic is far from over. Thank you to everyone who has joined our fight to breathe, your on-going support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to the announcement of a successful COVID-19 vaccine.
